Judith Ferrenbach ( or Judith F. Bradshaw to those who know her as a performer) began working in the learning services world in '91 and started Park Slope Tutorial Services in 1993. Although originally trained as a reading tutor she soon began teaching world history, math, writing and Spanish as well as test prep.
A native of St. Louis, MO. she received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas and an MFA in acting from the prestigious New York University Tisch School of the Arts Grad Acting Program. .Judith has worked in NYC for the last 20 plus years as a tutor, of course...but also as a teacher in programs for at-risk youth, as a teaching artist in public schools, and is an actress, writer and director.
She studied Spanish in Madrid, Spain in various intensive courses and designed and taught drama workshops for young people in the Spanish community (with the help of various ex-pats who helped with translation of materials and classes. Thanks!)
She has had the opportunity to perform in venues large and small, near and far, having been commissioned to devise performance art that has been presented in various locations including New York, Tokyo, London and Madrid. As well, she was a member of the Summer Musical Theater Workshop at The Elaine Kaufman Cultural Center (at Merkin Hall) for 12 years where she directed, and wrote the libretti for, 11 children's musicals. Several of these shows are available for license by theater companies.
She is currently represented by BMG Models and Talent and is a proud member of Actor's Equity Association (AEA) and SAG-AFTRA (the unions representing actors in professional TV, film and new media).
The PSTS "family" of tutors has included most recently:
Gadi Abramowitz. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Finance from the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. He brings his expert skills and easy, fun manner to math students of all ages. (AND, you can also catch him - as Gadi Rubin - on TV and in the movies).
Noah Kayser-Hirsh is a musician and scholar. He graduated from Vassar College with a Bachelors in Music and minor in Philosophy and brings his many skills and easy manner with him as he works with students of all ages.
*People often inquire about tutoring positions: I encourage anyone interested to send an email query with a resume. I don't have many positions available but that can always change!
My "usual suspect" in this category is someone who is a recent grad with a bachelors or masters degree and a special skill in math and science.
Previous tutors have been, among others over the years, Yareeve Zemel, James Ramsay, Alex Rodabaugh, Sara Urbanczyk, Sonia Parikh, Mariah Steele, Kristen Arnold, and Michael Albro (grads of Princeton, Columbia University, Vassar, New School University, NYU/Poly Technic and various SUNYs). Some of my previous students (grads of Stuyvesant High School) have come back to the "small town/big city" of Park Slope Brooklyn (while pursuing advanced degrees) and spent time working here as tutors (Mike Albro, Natalie Ruby and Sophie Tintori to name a few). The circle of life...
